Brand Introduction

Founded in 1916 in Shanghai’s Hongkou District, Wahson Electric Works was established by three patriotic entrepreneurs — Ye Youcai, Yuan Zongyao, and Yang Jichuan — with a shared vision to revitalize China’s light industry.

In 1924, Wahson launched China’s first national-brand electric fan, marking the beginning of modern Chinese electrical manufacturing. The name “Wahson” — meaning “the rebirth of China” — symbolized a spirit of innovation and national pride.

During the 1920s and 1930s, Wahson fans were exported to over 90 countries and regions, earning 12 international awards, including the Philippine Chinese National Products Exhibition Gold Medal and the Thai Chinese Chamber of Commerce Honorary Award. Over the decades, Wahson has been honored with distinctions such as the National Quality Silver Award, Shanghai Science & Technology Expo Gold Medal, and recognition as one of Shanghai’s Most Influential Time-Honored Brands.
